Helping the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA

PHS/SPCA provides warm beds, nutritious food, veterinary care and loving attention for the thousands of lost, stray, unwanted and/or injured domestic and wild animals that come through our doors each year. We depend on the support of community members and concerned animal lovers to help us provide for these animals in need.

There are many ways you can help PHS/SPCA and our shelter animals. Browse the list on the left for information on donating, honor/memorial gifts, vehicle donations, monthly giving, bequests, and other ways you can help.

On behalf of our friends with fur, feathers, scales and tails, THANK YOU!!

Funding Areas

There are several key areas in which your funds can help PHS/SPCA. Feel free to designate your gift to any of the six funding areas listed below. If no designation is indicated, we will distribute donations to whichever programs most urgently need them.

Hope Program – Our Hope Program helps the neediest animals and gives them a second chance at life. Many animals need extra medical care, behavior training, or TLC before they can be adopted into a new forever home. Hope saves an average of 200 animals every month.

Spay/Neuter Services – Our low-cost and free spay/neuter programs help fight against pet overpopulation, and have been highly effective. Since the start of our Spay/Neuter Clinic in 1970 there has been an 80% reduction in the number of cats and dogs coming into our shelter.

Cruelty Investigations – We do not tolerate animal cruelty. Our Humane Officers respond to complaints and observations from the public, and take action to resolve issues. Depending on the nature of the cases, solutions range from education and suggestions to strict prosecution.

Education Programs – We offer varied and unique education programs, including classroom presentations, tours, Animal Camp, and our Vet Shadow Program. We also offer Creature Features, monthly presentations that range from lectures and hands on animal exhibits to special training courses.

Wildlife Rehabilitation – Our Wildlife Care Program rehabilitates injured and orphaned wildlife from San Mateo, San Francisco and Northern Santa Clara counties. Last year we treated and released more than 1,400 animals back into their natural habitats once they were able to function properly in the wild.

Adoption Center – Our skilled adoption counselors find loving homes for thousands of animals each year: cats, dogs, rabbits, mice, rats, hamsters, birds, lizards, turtles, snakes, and many more. Additionally, we find homes for fully 100% of our healthy, adoptable cats and dogs.
