Available Dogs- pg 3In a small percentage of adoptable dogs, PHS/SPCA requires an $85 training fee. This fee, collected at the time of adoption, enrolls your adopted dog in our training class. Our staff and volunteers make shelter visitors aware of the training fee early in the adoption process. We require training when it will greatly add to a dog's success in his or her new home. In other cases, we may conduct a property inspection or have other requirements. Our goal is not to make the process cumbersome, but to do what we know will ensure a lasting adoption. Having spent time with each dog prior to adoption, having a good knowledge of breeds, plus a success rate for lasting adoptions well above the national average, we feel good about our matchmaking process. Last Updated: May 5, 2008*Dogs at PHS/SPCAThese dogs are staying in the kennels at PHS/SPCA. The dogs at PHS/SPCA have indoor/outdoor kennels with beds. Many dogs enjoy sharing a kennel with one or more buddies.
Hello, I'm Bocci, a 2-year-old altered female Doberman Pinscher/Lab mix. I am a friendly and gentle gal who loves attention. I am shy with new surroundings and would benefit from continuous socialization--daily walks, interactions with other dogs and strangers, etc. My new guardian should be strong and have a yard for me to play in. I can live with dogs my size but I am not sure about cats. If there are children in the household they should be 10 & up. If I sound like the sweet gal you’ve been looking for then come down and meet me, ID A420252.
See my video! Hi! I’m Jorja, a very sweet altered female Boxer/Pit Bull mix with a beautiful tricolor coat. You may remember me as the cover girl on Pawprint last Spring. I’m a very energetic girl who loves to go outside for a run, yes, that’s what I love to do, to run and play and just have a great time so I’m looking for a family that knows how to enjoy life like me. I’m very outgoing and friendly and I’m also doing very well with my training here at the shelter. I need to go to a home where I’ll be the only pet, maybe with teenagers and with a nice safe yard. So if all this sounds good to you then don’t hesitate to come meet me at the shelter and see if we can share our love for life together! Just remember to ask for Jorja, ID# A383484.
See my video! Hello, I'm Cara, a 2.5-year-old altered female Pit Bull. I am a curious and friendly gal that is also outgoing and playful. I am looking for a very strong breed experienced owner. Any children in the household should be in their teens. As for living with other animals I can only live with a male dog around my same size. I'll need to continue my obedience training at the shelter with my new guardian but I see that as a great bonding opportunity. Please come meet me soon and ask for Cara, ID A413444.
Hello! My name is Tortelini and I'm a very energetic 3 years old altered male Hound mix with a very nice brown and white coat. I'm a very friendly, playful and gentle guy who loves to follow my nose as when I go out for a walk. That's why they say at the shelter I need mandatory training when I go home with my new family, because I need to learn how to channel all my energy and curiosity. My favorite game is "tug of war" and I get along fine with dogs my same size or larger and children 10 years old and up (but not small dogs or cats). So please come meet me at the shelter, remember to ask for Tortelini and quote my ID A413054.
Hey, I'm Pebbles, an adorable 6 month old, altered male Pit Bull. If you are looking for a bouncy, bubbly guy then look no farther. I know I may look serious, but I’m really a bundle of exuberant energy and playfulness. I’m looking for a home where there is a ton of energy, and people who have experience with my breed. I’m an indoor/outdoor fellow, and I can’t wait for you to play with me. I get along with female dogs and children ten years and older. I have a lot to learn and can’t wait to participate in Peninsula Humane Society’s training program. How about coming by to meet me? Who knows…you might just fall in love. Just ask for Pebbles, and reference my ID # A422635.
Greetings, I am Franklin. My distinguished name is very fitting since I am an older Chihuahua at 9-years-old. What’s great about a senior fellow like myself is we are calm and attentive. Just give me a nice warm lap to curl up in and I’ll be content. My friendly personality and small size make me ideal for first time pet owners and apartment dwellers. I can live with other dogs my size and possibly cats. Any children in the home should be in their teens. Well, I look forward to meeting you soon and dazzling you with my charm, that’s Franklin (A173135).
Well, hello! I'm Chalka, a 5 month old female Australian Cattle Dog mix. I am a very pretty girl with a beautiful black and white coat. I am a sweet, playful dog who can't wait to find a home where I will be able to romp and bounce about. I'm still a puppy after all...a sweet, cute, lovable puppy. I will grow up very quickly, however, and when I do...look out! My Cattle Dog nature will really kick in and I will be ready to herd anything (except cats). I have a lot of energy that needs to be burned off, and that will hold true as I get older, so I need a family that is very active and a house with a yard. I get along with most other dogs and children over the age of 10. Why not come by and meet me? Ask for Chalka, ID#A424714.
Looking for a big goof-ball? Then look no further...all you need is me, Muriel. I am a 4 year old altered female Pit Bull and I am the goof-ball you have been looking for all your life. I am sweet and affectionate, and just love attention! I'm a good natured gal...who wouldn't be with the name of Muriel? I do need mandatory training to be sure that I have the proper social skills to interact with others. I get along with most male dogs, but not females. If there are children in the house they should be over the age of 10. The folks at PHS will want to be sure that I am going to a safe, secure home with a yard so they will want to do a property inspection. It would be best if you have experience with my breed. If you have another (male) dog in your home, be sure to bring him along when you come to meet me, we will want to be properly introduced. So come on over and ask for me, Muriel, ID#A422361.
Hi, my name is Alice and I am a 1 year old female Terrier mix with a beautiful white coat. The last thing I remember is falling through this looking glass and then poof I was here at the Peninsula Humane Society. I have met the most interesting people and creatures since I have arrived. I知 quite a friendly and feisty young girl and am curious of everyone and everything around me. Being small I can live in any size dwelling. I would rather be the only pet in your life and I値l require mandatory training here at the shelter. My new human should have some animal experience with a lot of love to give; which I will return many times over. If you would like to stop by for tea be sure to ask for Alice, and reference my ID A422557. Please don稚 be late it痴 a very important date we have you and I.
Hello, I am princess...I mean puppy Leia. I知 a four month old altered female Pit Bull. Being a puppy I like to play, play, play! You値l find me friendly, outgoing and curious. I値l need some one to adopt me that understands my breed, will allow a property inspection and allow us to get off on the right paw by bringing me back to the shelter for obedience training. I can only live with male dogs and must be introduced to any resident pooches. I can possibly live with cats. I am believed to be good with children but should always be supervised with them. So if you are looking for a pretty special puppy then look fomno further, come meet me and please reference my ID A423918.
See my video! Howdy, I知 Tonka a handsome 5-year-old male Alaskan Malamute. Did you know that the Alaskan Malamute, one of the oldest arctic sled dogs, was named after the native Innuit tribe called Mahlemuts? My breed is also known for being a loyal and devoted companion. I am friendly, outgoing and eager to meet new people. I can also be stubborn and because of my large size I値l need a strong guardian that has experience with my breed. I also will need to continue my training here at the shelter to help with my manners. My new home should be cat free and any resident dogs should be around my size. Children in the home must be in their teens. Come visit me soon and reference my ID A418822.

* These are only some of the wonderful dogs we have for adoption. We do our best to update this page regularly (with volunteers) but we can't guarantee every animal shown here is still available. It's also typical that we have dogs in the shelter who haven't yet had their photos taken, etc, so even though the site has been updated, that doesn't mean you're seeing all the dogs here that are actually available at our shelter. So please come down to our shelter! It's a loving place and we are happy to help you find the perfect dog for you. To hear a recording of the most current listing of animals for adoption, call 650/340-7022, ext. 706. To adopt an animal, please visit the shelter in person to meet with a customer service representative and the animal. You can download an adoption profile form for a dog or a cat, complete the form and bring it with you to the shelter. Adoption hours are 11 am to 7 pm on the weekdays and 11 am to 6 pm on the weekends. (Note that it is often not possible for our staff to complete adoptions for visitors arriving less than an hour before our posted closing times.) Our staff is busy taking care of the animals and making matches, therefore we are unable to answer inquiries about individual animals over email. |
